Linda Belford, 71 from Spearfish, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2020, at the Hospice House in Rapid City.
Linda was born on March 6, 1948, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to two hard working parents, Heber and Lucille (Waite) Stone. The oldest of four daughters, she was raised in Gering, Nebraska, and graduated from Gering High School in 1966. She attended Hiram Scott College in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and graduated in 1970 with a degree in elementary education. She met Jerry Belford in the summer of 1965. They married on June 3, 1968 and will remain that way always. She was the proud mother of Michele and the grandmother to Evan and Audrey. Linda worked as a Child Protective Service Social Worker for 35 years. She believed serving on the front lines of child abuse was her life's calling, and she helped countless children in her lifetime.
Linda loved spending time in the mountains. She and Jerry vacationed together for 50 years in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They also enjoyed musical theater and were regular guests at the Fort Robinson Playhouse, known as the Post Playhouse Inc . She was a devoted mother, sister, wife, and grandmother. She loved baking and sending birthday gifts to her loved ones and was always thinking of how to make her family happy. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Belford of Spearfish, South Dakota; daughter, Michele Bauer and son-in-law Jon Bauer of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Evan and Audrey of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Lynette Kautz of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Alexis Bennett, Wayne, Pennsylvania, and Denise Stone of Alliance, Nebraska. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and Heber Stone.
A private memorial service will be held for family on Monday, March 9, 2020, at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish SD, officiated by Fr. Clay Riley. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being collected in Linda's honor for the Post Playhouse Inc. www.postplayhouse.com/donate
