Obituary

Zelma Reimer Pickerd, 91 child of God and long-time Crook County educator passed from this life on October 8, 2009 at Golden Living Center, Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Memorial services will be held Monday, October 12, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Sundance, interment at Mt. Moriah Cemetery will precede the services at 2:00 PM., with Rev. Marvin Temme of Torrington, Wyoming officiating.

Zelma was born July 24 1918 to Jakob and Elizabeth (Weibe) Reimer at Chinook, Montana. Zelma graduated from Hulett High School. After completing Normal Training she taught at several rural schools in Crook County. She was elected County Superintendent of Schools of Crook County and held that position until the districts consolidated. She then went back to school and obtained her Bachelors Degree from Black Hills State College and taught Fifth Grade at Moorcroft Elementary. After serving the youth of Crook County for 40 years in the Crook County school system she retired in 1985.

Zelma and Elmer Pickerd were married June 8, 1942. After Elmer passed away in 1997, Zelma moved to Torrington to be closer to her Family.

She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Torrington, Wyoming.

Zelma is survived by her sisters Stella Goertz of Riverton, and Nina Bannister of Gillette; her brothers, Loyd Reimer of Newcastle and Carl Reimer of Gillette. Her sons, William (Bill) Pickerd and his wife, Cheryl of Springfield, Oregon; Robert (Bob) Pickerd and his wife, Pauline of Stevensville, Montana and daughter, Bonnie Speidel and husband Bill, of Torrington, Wyoming, grandchildren; Maria Giczewski and Carole Kelty, Sarasota, Florida; Joel Pickerd and Erica Barlow of Oregon; and Michael Speidel of Scottsbluff, Nebraska and 12 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, husband, Elmer, daughter, Elizabeth (Betty) Pickerd Hower; brothers, Alven Reimer, Henry Reimer, and sisters, Anna Groeber and
Ida Clark.
