Wilma M. (Holtry) Kuykendall, age 98, of Spearfish, SD, died February 2, 2013 at the Belle Fourche HealthCare Center, Belle Fourche, SD.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Oakridge Cemetery, Deadwood, SD. A memorial has been established for Hospice of the Northern Hills, 1440 North Avenue, Spearfish, SD.

Wilma was born December 13, 1914 near Zeona, SD to Arthur and Sadie (McWilliams) Holtry. As a child, she moved with her parents to a farm east of Vale, SD and attended the country school there for five years. Later, the family moved to Vale, and Wilma graduated from Vale High School in 1932. That fall she entered nurses training at St. Joseph's Hospital in Deadwood, SD and graduated as a registered nurse in 1936. She was married to James Ralph Kuykendall on July 26, 1936 at her parents home near Vale. The couple lived in Deadwood until 1969, when they moved to Spearfish. They were married 72 years.

Wilma was employed as a nurse and office manager in the office of Dr. J.C. Smiley in Deadwood for a number of years. She was a long time member of Lookout Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered at the gift shop there. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Deadwood.

She is survived by her daughter, Rev. Marlyne (David) Cain, Spotsylvania, VA; two granddaughters, Sarah (Eddie) Naylor and Kristin (Seamus) Geary; two great-grandsons, Conor Geary and Noah Naylor.
