Stratton
August 11, 1948 – May 13, 2019
William Ronald "Jack" Stratton was born on August 11, 1948 in Hot Springs, South Dakota to George and Janice Stratton. He grew up and went to school in Custer, South Dakota and graduated from Custer High School with the class of 1966. He was married in December of 1966 in Custer to Anna Welchert and they made their home in Spearfish where he attended Black Hills State University and received a B.S. in Business. After college they lived in Spearfish where they raised their family. Anna, his wife of thirty-four years, passed away in 2001. William worked for forty plus years at Homestake Gold Mine and for Sanford Lab. He continued working at Sanford Lab until his death.
His passion was his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family, whether it was sporting events, concerts, plays, or just spending time together.
He is survived by four daughters, Rebecca Johnson and her husband Wes of Pocatello, Idaho, Jennifer Schroefel and her husband Shon of Buffalo, Amanda TerEick and her husband Tim of Lone Tree, Colorado and Carolyn Kaiser and her husband Matt of Buffalo; one son Mark Stratton and his fiancé Manda Whittle of Loveland, Colorado; two sisters Pat Schiefer and her husband Bill of Custer, South Dakota and Jill Borland of Chinquapin, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. William was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna, and one brother, Jeff Stratton.
