William "Bill" Vernon Fricke, 73 of Belle Fourche, SD, passed away October 21, 2019 at Spearfish Regional Hospital.
Bill was born to Vernon C. and Edna L. (Fairburn) Fricke in Billings, Montana. He lived with his parents on Main Street in Worden, Montana, graduating from Huntley Project High School in 1965. Bill immediately joined the US Navy, serving on the USS Harlan R. Dickson (DD 708). Bill married Millie Lauer in New York City on August 28th, 1968. He worked for IBM after his Honorable Discharge from the Navy in New York City and later in Glendive, Montana. He also worked for Texaco and Getty Oil. The family moved to Elkton, SD in 1997 and Bill went to work for 3M. Millie died as results of a car accident February 1, 2001. He later married Leann Mangan of Elkton and they moved to Belle Fourche in 2006.
Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing for paddlefish in the Yellowstone River near Glendive, collecting guns and telling stories, and reading about World War II.
Bill is survived by his wife, Leann Fricke; daughter, Brenda Faulkner; son, Bill Fricke; stepson, Mike Mangan; grandchildren, Nickolas Fricke, and Avry, Aden, and Jamison Mangan; sisters, Jean Crawford and Carol Unverzagt; and his brother, Dan Fricke.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Millie; his brother, Donald; and sister, Marian Bainter.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Memorials may be made in Bill's name to the Parkinson's Foundation or given to a memorial of your own choice.
