Obituary

William "Bill" Conrad Carrico, age 73, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on Monday, October 6, 2025, at his home in Lead, South Dakota.  Bill was born on June 17, 1952, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Robert Carrico and Violet (Hofer) Carrico. In 1954, his family relocated from Turton to Lead, where Bill and his four siblings were raised. He graduated from Lead High School in 1970.

On June 6, 1971, Bill married Linda Ennis. Their union was blessed with two children, Travis Carrico and Autumn Carrico. He found further joy in his grandchildren, Jalyn Moeller and Tyrus Carrico.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Bill was a man of tireless work and unwavering loyalty. From his early days running a paper route to working in his school cafeteria, he cultivated a strong work ethic from a young age. Over the years, Bill wore many hats: milkman, realtor, car salesman, lube-shop operator, restaurant owner (The Bodega, Bodega II, and Gigi's), and proprietor of Tony's Liquor (later Bodega Bill's Liquor) on Highway 14A. Even while running the liquor store, he delivered fuel for the Twin City bulk plant. In his later years, Bill joined the team at Home Depot in Gilbert, Arizona, where he eventually retired.

Bill's greatest passions were his family, his friendships, and the outdoors. He frequently took his children fishing—especially Autumn—and coached Travis's traveling basketball team when Travis was in elementary school resulting in a multi-state championship. He was a fixture at his children's sporting events and later those of his grandchildren, offering support and encouragement.  Throughout his life, Bill split his time between Watertown, Lead, and Gilbert, Arizona, always eager to be close to those he loved. Though he has now "gone fishing" with his Lord and Maker, his memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Bill is survived by his wife, Linda (Ennis) Carrico, his children, Travis (Lisa) Carrico of Watertown, SD, and Autumn Carrico, of Lead, SD, and his grandchildren, Jalyn (Mitch) Moeller, of Sturgis, SD and Tyrus Carrico, of Watertown, SD, and his siblings Philip (Pam) Carrico, of Turton, SD and Maria Mason, of Brookings, SD.  Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Carrico and Violet Carrico, and his siblings, David Carrico and Linda Zeller, and his brothers-in-law, Don Zeller, and Vern Mason.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13, at 10:30 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Lead, South Dakota, with Pastor Marvin Jensen officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Lawn Cemetery in Lead. A meal will be served afterward at the Carrico home, 140 Glendale Drive, Lead. All are welcome to attend.
