Obituary

William (Bill) B. Glover passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the Belle Fourche Long-term Care Center. Bill was born to George W. and Mary Sedwell (Bunney) Glover on April 30, 1926 in Deadwood SD.
The family moved to Portland OR at the start of World War II. He worked in the shipyards until April 1944 when he joined the United States Navy. He served on LSM 249 as a Motor Machinist II and was very proud to be an Alligator (those serving in the amphibian branch).
After being discharged in 1946, he joined two brothers and his father in a cabinet shop in Lead.
On June 8, 1947, he married the love of his life, Evelyn Jean Culver from Doland SD. They met when he was 14 and she was 12 and she knew she would marry him. They raised five sons and spent 53 years together before Evelyn passed away.
After leaving the cabinet shop, he was a mechanic at the Dodge dealership. He soon went to work for Homestake Mine in the Mechanical Department until retiring in 1988.
Shortly after retiring, he joined the Lead Fire Department. His best accomplishment was building the air truck from the ground up allowing the department to fill air bottles on site. He was active in the department into his 80's.
Bill was also involved in Trinity Methodist Church and was a 65 year member of the Odd Fellows. He always served many jobs for everything he was involved with.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, three infant siblings, one great-grandchild Emmanuel and his beloved wife, Evelyn.
Bill is survived by five sons; Bill (Sandy) of Deadwood, Dan of Colorado Springs CO; Ted (Jane) of Spearfish, Keith (Jessica) of Sioux Falls and Doug (Sina) of Mitchell. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren
Services will be on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 10:30am at the Lead Trinity Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery at 1:30m with military honors.
