Wende Caroline Shanks passed away at her home on October 24 ^th 2020 in Spearfish, South Dakota.

Wende was born in Deadwood, South Dakota on September 13, 1975. Her mother Chanice Shanks moved to Oceanside, California in 1976 for Wende to be closer to family. She attended El Comino High school (Oceanside, CA) and briefly Fairfax High School (West Hollywood, CA) in the early 1990s. She moved back to Deadwood in 1996. Wende relocated to Aberdeen, South Dakota in 2015 to be closer to her mother Chanice Shanks.

One of Wende's passions was childcare. She enjoyed babysitting children of family and friends through her life. Wende loved watching movies and shows of all genres. Her favorites where of Shirly Temple, Netflix series Stranger Things, and Little House on the Prairie. She also enjoyed coloring and reading. One of her favorite books was "The Book of Bible Stories". Wende was very eclectic in music. Everyone who was close to Wende knew she was very kind, caring and loving. She wanted to always make people around her happy.

Our love and precious memories of her will remain in us and warm our hearts until we embrace her again.

She is survived by her mother Chanice Shanks; brother Andrew Shanks; father Mark Shanks; aunts Sharon Nevin, Brix (John) McDonald, Annella Rechin; cousins Barbara (Robert) Hawk, Kristina Homolka, Michelle Giacomaro, Lynette Hodgdon, Megan Bachand, and Jordan McDonald. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Henry Rechin, Virginia Rechin, and her aunt; Shirly Berk.

Cremation arrangements were under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels and Isburg Crematory of Spearfish.
