Wayne Suiter, 97 of Spearfish passed away on February 26, 2017 at Fort Meade VA Medical Center.

Wayne was born June 6, 1919 to Carey and Amanda (Godager) Suiter in Iona, SD. He attended grade school in Iona and graduated from high school in Gregory, SD in 1937. He worked on his family's farm and for Cliff Fenenga driving a livestock truck to Sioux City to the markets until 1942. Wayne enlisted in the United States Army on April 1, 1942 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He served in Northern France and Rhineland and was honorably discharged as the rank of sergeant in 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. He married Clarice Ashley on January 5, 1946 in Vermillion, SD. The couple lived in Mitchell, SD, where Wayne learned auto body repair. They then moved to Sioux Falls, SD where he worked as a foreman for Ray Quinn Company and Sioux Ford. They moved to Sheldon, Iowa in 1968 and Wayne taught auto body repair at Northwest Iowa Community College until his retirement in 1982. During this time he received his BS Degree in Education from the University of South Dakota at Springfield. During his retirement Wayne and Clarice enjoyed traveling and camping for a few years before he settled in Chamberlain in 1997 after the death of Clarice.

Wayne is survived by his sons, Michael Suiter and his wife, Mary of Billings, MT and Patrik Suiter and his wife, Rene' of Rapid City; granddaughter, Jody and her husband Shaun Reichenbach and great-grandchildren, Shayla and Casey Richenbach all of Billings, MT.

Visitation will be from 2-6 PM on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM (CST) on Thursday, March 2 at Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
