Wanda Dexheimer, 85 of Spearfish, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 23, 2016.
Wanda was born on January 28, 1931 in Dupree, SD to Carl and Lorna (Robertson) Vance. She graduated from Dupree High School in 1949 and then attended National School of Business in Rapid City graduating in 1950.
While attending school in Rapid City, she met Wally Dexheimer at a young adult church group. They were married on August 17, 1952 and to this union they had four children. The family lived in South Dakota, California and Colorado before returning to Spearfish in 1972. Wanda was an Avon Representative for over 30 years and did secretarial work for various organizations and businesses. She was a member of the United Church of Christ and was active in The Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She is survived by her three siblings, Donald Dean Vance, Wilma Cowan and Marilyn Wenlund; her children, Doug, Steve, Dawn and Nancy; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will miss her very much. She was preceded by her husband; brothers, Wayne and Dale Vance; sisters, Shirley Menzel and Joyce Vance and nephew, Darrel Vance.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Monday, August 29, 2016 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the United Church of Christ in Spearfish. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery. Memorials have been established to benefit Hospice of the Northern Hills and the United Christ of Church.
