Wallace Croff, 87, of Spearfish, SD, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at his home in Spearfish.
Wallace was born on April 12, 1924 in Watford City, ND to Sidney and Grace (Lillibridge) Croff. He graduated from Watford City High School and continued to farm and ranch in the area. He later went on to operate various businesses in Watford City. In 1943 he enlisted in the US Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers during WWII. After being honorable discharged in 1946 he returned from the war and married Ila Mae Hansen. In the early 70's they moved to Spearfish, where they operated Bell's Motor Lodge until retirement. He has been living with his son for the past ten years.
Wally is survived by his son, Paige Croff of Spearfish; six grandchildren, Jessica, Aaron, Meshanna, Lorr, Stephanie and Scott; two great-grandchildren Ethan and Ember. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ila Mae, son Ward, and grandson Daniel.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
