Vivian Perry was born in Polo, IL, on November 4, 1918 to William Lester Hicks and Stata Margaret (Linton) Hicks, the fouth of five children. She died January 24, 2016, at Belle Fourche Healthcare in Belle Fourche, SD.
In May, 1942, Vivian married Robert L. Perry of Dixon, IL, and soon had twin sons and a daughter that they raised in Dixon for about 12 years. Next they moved to Dundee, IL, and after their children were educated and married, Bob and Viv moved several times. Bob's various career choices took them to IL, IA, GA, FL, NC, and finally settling in SD to live near their daughter.
Vivian was a consummate homemaker and mother. She loved to garden and loved entertaining her grandchildren when they came to visit. She always made sure they had special times when they were with her. She enjoyed hunting for seashells on the beaches in Florida and would make sure she shared them with her grandchildren. She had musical talent and in later years, she polished her skills at piano and organ keyboards and even played in a band in Florida.
Her family is grateful for the loving people from the Belle Fourche Healthcare and Hospice who cared for her for the last five years.
Vivian was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, her parents and siblings, and one son. She is survived by her daughter, Ann R. Perry of Belle Fourche; son, Richard E (Anna) Perry of San Bernardino, CA; grandsons, Daniel R. (Danelle) Perry, Michael E. (Dawn) Perry, David C. Harrison, and Shawn S. (Jo Ellen) Neidhardt; and granddaughters, Michelle L. (Glen) Lammers, Tiffany A (Daniel) DeRamos, Jodie L (Timothy) Brieske, Olivia Paige Perry, and six great-grandchildren.
Vivian is to be cremated and a memorial and burial service for her and Robert will be held in Florida at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels and Crematory Service of Spearfish.
