Obituary
Vivian M. Burns, 88 of Spearfish died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Belle Fourche Healthcare Center.
Vivian was born July 17, 1928 to Anthony and Lois (Miles) Schmitgen in Onida, SD. She grew up on the family homestead east of Onida, where she attended North Buffalo country school. Following school Vivian worked various jobs in the Pierre area. She married Richard F. Burns in 1950, the couple had one son, Ronald. The couple moved to Lead, SD in 1952, where Richard went to work for Homestake Mining Company. The couple moved to Spearfish in 1977.
Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, son and siblings; David Schmitgen, LeRoy Schmitgen, Christina Abbott, Viola Miller and Iola Miller.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:00pm - 6:00pm, Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral services will be at 10:00am, Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be given to a charity of your choice in Vivian's name.
