Virginia Meisel, 87, passed away at her home on August 6, 2019.

She was born on July 27, 1932 in Hot Springs, SD. She was adopted shortly after birth by Ralph and Marjorie Trussell. She lived in Deadwood, SD until she was 4 years old and moved to the outskirts of Spearfish, SD to live on her family's farm until her death. She had two children, Pamela and Lyle, from her first marriage to Carroll Hansen. She later married Robert Meisel on April 21, 1990.

Virginia attended Spearfish High School. After she graduated, she continued to live and work in Spearfish. She worked many different jobs before she finally worked at the Spearfish School district as a cook. She loved being around all the children and they loved her.

Virginia was an avid collector and researcher of the history of the early Black Hills. She also loved to collect music boxes and spoons from different states. She touched many lives and always had a smile on her face. She was full of life and she lived her life how she wanted to.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Pamela Williamson; five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her son, Lyle Hansen; husbands, Francis Duane and Robert Meisel; brother, Ralph Trussell; sister, Mary Raymond and parents Ralph and Marjorie Trussell.

A graveside committal service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Heritage Museum in Spearfish, SD.
