Violet "Vi" Teeter, 84, of Spearfish, died January 9, 2012 of a heart attack at Rapid City Regional Hospital .
She was born on August 27,1927 to Conrad and Lillian (Backer) Winger in Wilton , ND . Vi was raised in SD by her mother, Lillian and her stepfather, "Shorty" Mutchler. She attended grade schools in the Rapid City area and graduated from New Underwood High School , in 1945.
On April 2,1949 she married James "Jim" Teeter. They raised four children all of whom survive her: Curt (Judy) Teeter of Crystal Lake, IL, Connie Lee Teeter of Carmel Valley, CA, Colleen (Mark) Johnson of Omaha, NE, and Chrys (Rip) Pereida of Boise; ID, two granddaughters, Kellie Johnson of Omaha, Amanda (Jim) Weis of Omaha, great-granddaughters Ava and Cora and great-grandson Matthew Weis of Omaha, her sisters June Hitson of Spearfish and Connie Reichert of Hereford, SD, and nephews Kevin and Kelly Hitson and Bruce, Ross and Billy Reichert and their families all of SD. She was preceeeded in death by her mother, father, step-father, husband and infant daughter.
Vi returned to the Black Hills after the death of her husband, Jim, in 2003 to be near June and Connie. She loved to travel and made many trips with her fun-loving sisters. She attended the Church of Christ and made many kind, helpful and generous friends in Spearfish who she enjoyed socializing with and deeply treasured.
A celebration and remembrance of her life will be held at 1:00 P.M.on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the United Church of Christ with Pastor Jeff Dilks, family and friends. A lunch and fellowship will follow.
Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date in Omaha , NE.
