Violet B. Carrico, 90, Lead, SD died Tuesday November 14, 2017.

Violet was born February 23, 1927 in Carpenter, SD to Joe E and Katie (Tschetter) Hofer. Violet was raised in Doland, SD graduating from Doland High School in 1945. Violet married Robert W Carrico on June 25, 1945 in Webster, SD. They had five children. They farmed in the Turton area until moving to Lead, SD in 1954 when Robert worked for Homestake. Violet was a member of Shepheard of the Hills Lutheran Church. After raising her children she worked with her son on various business enterprises.

Violet is survived by her four children, Philip (Pam), Linda (Don), Maria, Bill (Linda); her brother, Jerry (Sally) Hofer; her sisters, Ruby and Josephine; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her son, David; her parents, Joe E and Katie Hofer; her in-laws, Tom and Hilda Carrico; her sisters, Evelyn and Gladys; one son-in-law; one great-granddaughter, Angela and three brothers-in-law.

Visitation will be from 5:00pm-7:00pm, Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead with a prayer service to follow at 7:00pm.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead. Burial will take place at Mountain Lawn Cemetery near Lead. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
