Veronica "Vera" A. Mensing, 88 of Spearfish died Friday, August 03, 2012 at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living in Spearfish.

Vigil services will be at 7:00 P.M., Monday, August 6, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Spearfish.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church; burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to benefit, St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Spearfish and Hospice of the Northern Hills.

Vera was born May 17, 1924 in Milwaukee, WI to DeForest and Emma Smith. She attended grade school in Fond Du Lac, WI and later enrolled in St. Mary's Springs Academy. She met Bob Mensing in the late 1930's and the couple married on March 23, 1944 in Casper, WY, where Bob was discharged from active duty in the armed forces. The couple moved to Lemmon, SD where they made their home for over 35 years. In 1980 they moved to Spearfish. Following her loving husband's passing in 1994, Vera continued to make Spearfish her home.

Our mom was beautiful, incredibly wise and had a great sense of humor. She had the biggest heart any mom could ever have; she was always there for us. Mom, you are everything special a mom could be, we love you with all our hearts, your children; Robert Mensing of Lake Havasu, AZ, Jacqueline Lockert of Jordan, MN and Connie Haselhorst of Whitewood, SD, five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson and great-grandson.
