Twyla Baxter, 76 of Newcastle, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Weston County Health Services in Newcastle, WY.
Twyla was born on March 22, 1939 in Newcastle, WY to Lloyd Lymond and Francis V (Davis) Ross. Twyla and her family moved to Billings, MT when she was 10 years old. She graduated from Billings High School in 1957 and married her husband, Robert Baxter that same year. The couple moved to Buffalo, WY in 1961 where Twyla was a stay at home mom to their two daughters, Debora Ann and Tamora Lea. Finances were tight in the early years and Twyla taught herself to sew. The girls always had a new outfit for every occasion. The family moved to Sundance, WY in 1969. Twyla spent her evenings knitting and crocheting, she enjoyed weekend camping trips and snowmobiling with family and friends. She collected Boyd's Bears, TY beanie babies and Hummel plates. She was a member of the Give and Gain Homemakers Club, a Girl Scout leader and a 4-H leader. Twyla had a passion for bowling and bowled on several leagues in Buffalo, Spearfish and Belle Fourche. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren's school programs and sporting events.
Twyla is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Bob; her parents Lloyd and Francis Ross and her brother, Don Ross. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Galen) Moline and Tammie (Duffy) Buresh; five grandchildren, Kristy (Jimmy) Lewis, Bryan Buresh, Nicole Moline, Aimee (Bryce) Gatzke and Jennifer Moline; and eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, James and Michelle Lewis, Dominick, Sismundo and Noah Murillo and Zooey and Oakley Gatzke.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Twyla will be put to rest at 3:00 PM at Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo, Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to hug your child, grandchild, or friend; throw a stick for your dog; cast a line into a stream; jump off the high dive; or walk in the woods for an hour, a day or just a moment. Time waits for no one.
