Timothy Lee Mock, 61 of Spearfish, SD passed away at his home on Thursday, August 21, 2014 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish with Chaplain Randy Bradley officiating. A memorial has been established to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Tim was born on September 27, 1952 to Carol (Marquart) and Frank Mock in Bismarck, ND. He graduated from Braddock High School and attended ND State School of Science and NDSU. Tim began working at Wesco Distribution in Bismarck in 1974. He had a long career with Wesco spanning 31 years, holding numerous positions and ending his career with them as Branch Manager. He successfully guided his employees in earning the President's Award of Most Improved Branch in December 1997. He resigned from WESCO in 2008 when he and his wife, Valerie, followed their love of the Black Hills and moved to Spearfish. His love of the outdoors then led him to work at Cabela's in Rapid City. His warm, congenial, easy smile and charismatic personality drew customers and outfitters alike. He retired from Cabela's in November of 2013.
Tim married his soul mate, Valerie (Braunagel) on October 26, 1989 and they spent 25 wonderful years together. They enjoyed traveling, exploring antique stores, pursuing their hobbies, spending time with family and quiet times together. Tim was an avid historian spending many years accumulating and researching numerous artifacts from World War II.
Tim and his son, Eric, immensely enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting, target shooting and golfing together. They also shared a peacefulness of being on the family farm in Braddock, ND where a portion of the farm will be forever preserved in Tim's memory. Tim's daughters, Amy and Jessie, will cherish the memories of their father's unconditional love.
Tim is survived by the love of his life, Valerie, Spearfish; his children, Eric (Lindsay) Mock, Bismarck, ND, Amy (Kevin) Cunningham, Plymouth, MN and Jessie (Brad) Lechner, Gillette, WY; brothers, Gary, Dean and Jay (Dawn) Mock; and sisters, Lynne (John) Mari and Cindy (Pat) Sahli. He was a loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Baran, Nazeli and Zane Lechner and Nevaeh and Owen Mock. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles,cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.
