IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Timothy
Gross
November 24, 1958 – June 7, 2022
The family of Timothy Gross of Spearfish, SD is saddened to announce his passing on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at the age of 63 years.
Tim was born on November 24, 1958, in Bowdle, SD to Mahlon and Arelene Gross. He graduated from Bowdle High School where he was active in football, basketball, track, chorus, and band. Tim began his college education at Northern State University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Behavioral Sciences in 1981. Tim began counseling at an Aberdeen, SD residential group home for children until he became project coordinator for the Juvenile Diversion Program in Aberdeen, SD.
Tim began his career with the Department of Corrections in 1987 as a parole officer and then as Regional Supervisor for Parole Services covering Rapid City, SD, and the Northern Hills region. He served in this capacity until his retirement on June 7, 2019.
Tim and his wife, Linda were married on April 5, 1986 and blessed to have their son, Christian. They resided in Aberdeen, SD until 1999 when the family moved to Spearfish, SD.
Tim was a fan of music and spent much of his life playing in bands as a bass guitar player cherishing lasting friendships with many of his fellow musicians. Tim also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, looked forward to the Sturgis Rally each year and spending time with fellow motorcycle enthusiasts, several of whom he has maintained close friendships with. When the weather turned cold you could find him cheering for the Washington Redskins.
Tim took pleasure in being outdoors including walks, drives in the beautiful Black Hills, camping, sitting on his deck with his dogs in the evenings and yard work. He took pride in his yard and entertained his family with his annual battles against the pinecones and cotton messing up his pristine lawn.
Tim is survived by his wife, Linda, his son Christian Gross of Dallas and his brother Tom Gross of Aberdeen. He was preceded in death by his parents Mahlon and Arelene Gross.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish with the family being present at 2:30 for visitation.
