Timothy Barrett, 54, Spearfish, died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at his home.
Tim was born December 3, 1960 to George and Mary Jane (Drury) Barrett in Kadoka, SD. His family moved to Lead, where he grew up and grudgingly attended school at his mother's urging. Graduating from Lead High School in 1979, he maintained numerous friendships. After high school, he entered the Air Force as a mechanic for four years. Once discharged, he returned to the Lead-Deadwood area, working various jobs including the Homestake Mine and later retiring from the Lawrence County Highway Department, once his health failed. Throughout life, Tim was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Black Hills. In town, he was a personable character who adapted many friendships. Tim also supplied happiness to his wife, children, grand-children, brothers and his medical team.
Survivors include: Wife: Cheryl Barrett, Spearfish, Children: Lauren Barrett, Pierre, Kelley (Scott) Nelson, Rapid City, Kasey (Randee) Bowerman, Black Hawk, Grandchildren: MaKayla Nelson, Erik Nelson, Jack Nelson, Blake Bowerman, Anna Bowerman, Brothers: Mike (Susan) Barrett, Terry ( Vicki) Barrett, Dennes Barrett, Joe Barrett and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Tim will be 3-5 PM, Tuesday, October 13 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Vigil Service will be 7 PM, Tuesday, October 13 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish, with visitation one-hour prior. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM, Wednesday, October 14, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
