Thomas Young, 62 of Newcastle, WY died March 20, 2014 in Whitewood, SD.
Tom was born November 28, 1951 to Donald and Helen Young in Chamberlain, SD. He attended school in Newcastle, WY and graduated high school in 1969. He enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged as a 2 nd Class Aviation Boatswain's Mate. Tom returned to Wyoming and attended the University of Wyoming. He worked at Kerr-McGee coal mine as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, atvs and mountain bikes in and around the Black Hills, Tom also enjoyed ice fishing, camping and spending the holidays with family and he was an avid bird watcher. The most important things in his life was his blue-fronted Amazon parrot "Gandalf", his black lab, "Pete" and his extensive book collection.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his step-mother, Corrine Young of Newcastle, WY, his sister, Carmen Steed of Casper, WY, four nephews; Trevor (Heather) Phillips, Trent (Jovon) Phillips, Russell Steed all of Casper, WY and Troy Phillips of Bremerton, WA and many cousins.
Graveside services will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery at 1:30pm, April 4, 2014 near Sturgis, SD.
