Thomas Novotny, 87, passed away Monday, September 19, 2011 at Dorsett Healthcare Center in Spearfish.
Thomas was born September 19, 1924, at Dixon, SD, to John and Anna (Nespor) Novotny. Tom was raised in the Dixon Township and farmed near White River until he moved his family to Deadwood in 1963, where he worked at the Homestake Mine until retirement.
Tom is survived by two children, Cameron Novotny and Collene (Dennis) Gillen along with five grandchildren; Dean (Alexia) Gillen, Dori Aspen, Derika (Cory) Foreman, Shane (Jennifer) Novotny and Cass Novotony; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora, his son, Joe, daughter-in-law, Tammy; his parents, and siblings Agnes, Evelyn, Ernest, Donald, Mildred, Lillian, Rose, Joe, Julia and John.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 26 at the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
