Theta Lorraine "Snookie" Grove, 92, passed away peacefully on November 21st, 2023. Leaving behind her legacy of unconditional love and generosity. Theta, born on October 17th, 1931 to Richard Enderby Sr. and Blanche Teresa Lorang Enderby, at 101 Cemetery St. Lead, South Dakota. Snookie graduated from Lead High School in 1949. Shortly after, Snookie married the love of her life, Darl "Peanuts" Grove on July 30th, 1949. The two shared a bond built on unwavering devotion and companionship. Together, they created a nurturing home filled with laughter, affection, and cherished memories. Later, they had four children, two twin boys, Lonnie (stillborn) and Lennie, Lorrie "Sissy" and Lindie "Peachie". After all of her children were in school full time, she worked at Western Auto Store and Norwest Bank (First National Bank) in Lead.
A friend to all, showing kindness to everyone in her bank line, later retiring at 55. Always joking she was the "good looking lady with the white hair." After Peanuts passed away, Snookie married James (Jake) Schumacher in 1985, later divorcing in 2005.
Her love extended far beyond her immediate family. Known for her vibrant spirit and welcoming nature, Snookie had a remarkable ability to connect with everyone she met. Her genuine interest in others and her infectious smile made her loved by all. Family was the cornerstone of Snookie's life. Her devotion had no boundaries. Her grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy. She loved simple things in life. Such as bowling and watching figure skating. Loving Gone with the Wind, Vodka Squirt, Oreos and milk, listening to books on tape, and of course Robert Redford. Among her passions were family gatherings, which held a special place in her heart.
Snookie is survived by three children, Lennie (Dottie) Grove of Spearfish, SD. Lorrie (Jeff) Townsend of Spanaway, Washington. Lindie Dunlap of Tucson, Arizona. Seven Grandchildren, Brian Grove of Spearfish, SD. Jennifer (Dave) Dorward of Paradise Valley, Arizona. Isaac (Emily) Dana of Tacoma, Washington. Danielle (Daymond) Cole of Hoquiam, Washington. Mindie (Lance) Morlock of Kalispell, Montana. Keef (Charmaine) Pinkerton of Tucson, Arizona. Keelia "Cheetie" (Adam) Nissen of Flint, Texas and twelve Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother (Blanche) in 1932, her father (Richard) in 1950, son Lonnie in 1952, husband Darl "Peanuts" Grove in 1980, brother Richard Jr. "Pinky" Enderby in 1996, brother Robert "Whitey" Enderby in 1996 , brother William "Blackie" Enderby in 1998, step-sister Raetta Enderby Arionus in 2021, and half-brother Charles Enderby in 2023.
She lived a full life that touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Services and a celebration of Snookies life will be held in Summer 2024.
