Theol Lucille Dwight, long-time Spearfish resident, passed away December 6, 2012 at the Belle Fourche Healthcare Center.
Theol was born October 31, 1913, in a sod house in Bison, South Dakota to Tilton and Alice (Wong) Hanson. She lived with her family in Bison, where she attended country school and later the Bison High School. She married Maurice Moses, to this union two children were born, Myrtle and Maurice (Bud), they later divorced. She moved to Spearfish and worked in the supermarket business at the Super Value. This is where she met Charley Dwight and they were married on June 7, 1965. Theol enjoyed the outdoors, especially Spearfish Canyon where she lived for many years.
Theol was active in the Eastern Star Queen City Chapter #89, Lawrence County Extension, Cowbelles, Savoy Fire Department, Republican Women, Hospital Auxiliary and Northern Hills Christian Women.
Theol is survived by her son; Maurice J. (Bud) Moses, Spearfish, Grandchildren; D'Anna Voorhees Hitson, Spearfish, Autumn Voorhees Gregory, Spearfish, Marc Voorhees, Spearfish, Great-Grandchildren; Heather Hitson, Los Angeles, CA, Sara Gregory, Rapid City, SD, Seth Voorhees, Yankton, SD, and a Special Son-in-law; James Voorhees, Spearfish. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Tilton and Richard Hansen, sisters; Bonnie Stubbert, Norma Hard, Wilma Hanson, infant sister Avis Hanson, daughter; Myrtle Voorhees, grandson; Jimmy Voorhees, husbands; Maurice Moses and Charley Dwight.
Memorial Services for Theol will be 10:00 AM, Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish, with Reverend Father Bunker Hill Officiating. Inurnment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish. A memorial has been established to the Belle Fourche Healthcare Center.
