Terence (Terry) O. McKillip was the eleventh child born to James and Ruth McKillip on January 9, 1939 in Pierre, S.D. His family lived in Belvedere, S.D. until Terry was in 1st grade when they moved to Midland, S.D. where he remained until he was a sophomore in high school. He finished high school in Edgemont, S.D. where he lived with his brother John.

After high school Terry went to work for John in the trucking business. In 1963, he began working for Kiewitt Construction in Sundance, WY.

He married Linda St. John in 1964 and moved to North Dakota where he worked at a uranium mine. Two daughters were born to this marriage: Tressa from Grand Junction, CO. and Deborah who died at 18 months. Terry worked for Kiewitt until 1972. He was married to his soul mate, Mary Wood, in 1977 after meeting on a dance floor doing the jitterbug. They bought a Kenworth from John Kummerfeld and entered the trucking business. He continued to haul bentonite, then gravel for the County and many neighbors. In 2008, he retired to reap the benefits of his and Mary's work on their coveted home.

At the age of 76, Terry passed away July 17, 2013 at their home with Mary at his side after a fight with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruth (Hand) McKillip, a daughter, Deborah, three brothers, Danny, Jim, and John, two sisters Darlene and Marion, three half brothers and three half sisters. He is survived by his wife, of rural Moorcroft, Mary, daughter, Tressa (Tom) of Grand Junction, CO, granddaughter, Sydney, grandson, Terren, and sister, Arleta of Eugene, OR, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Terry loved the trucking business, particularly hauling for local people because of the opportunity to visit. He was often invited in for dinner after loads of gravel were delivered cherishing those special moments. He claimed he traveled more county roads than most people who had lived here for a lifetime. Terry was known for taking care of his truck with utmost diligence. A bolt was never left loose and he had the cleanest truck on the road! He understood that keeping his truck in the best working order brought less break downs and more income. People appreciated his gift of being able to lay a load of gravel without it needing to be spread with a blade. Fellow truckers brought their repair questions to him and he never left anyone broke down. He would even sacrifice loads to help others get their trucks running.

Terry especially enjoyed family reunions. He often instigated the events and was accused of bringing the rains along with him. He loved spending time with his daughter and family and was thrilled to be a Grandpa. To whoever would listen, he loved telling jokes and very seldom told the same one twice. Terry enjoyed camping, fishing, motorcycle riding, traveling, playing the guitar with Mary at the piano, playing the piano, organ and accordion, creating and building things, but most of all visiting. He loved animals, especially his dogs. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church in Moorcroft with Pastor Donavon Voigt officiating. Burial will follow at Moorcroft Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the First Presbyterian Church and Treasured Memories Hospice and Palliative Care in Moorcroft.
