Terry Biel, 63 of Summerset and long time resident of Lead, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Terry was born on February 22, 1951 to George and Freda (Zimmerman) Biel in Mobridge, SD. He was raised in the Selby area and graduated from high school there in 1969. Terry frequently visited the Lead area moving there shortly after graduation and began working at the Homestake Mining Company. In 1971, he met Barbara Wermers and they were married on June 2, 1972 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lead. To this union two children were born, Jared and Loretta "Lori".

Terry and Barbara were in a serious motorcycle accident on April 9, 1977, resulting in long term injuries, but he never considered himself to be disabled. Terry did whatever he could to support his family after the accident. He then found his real calling as a taxi driver, everyone who stepped in his taxi was immediately considered friend or family.

Survivors include his wife; Barbara, children; Jared Biel and Loretta "Lori" Biel; his grand puppies; Rika and Sascha, all of Summerset, sisters; Eleanor Opp, Groton, SD, Virginia Vestal, Longview, TX, Dee Vestal, Kilgore, TX, Myra Keller, Spearfish along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Jody Opp.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 25, 2014 at St. Patrick's Church in Lead. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lead.

Arrangements are under the care of the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead.
