Teresa M. (Tchida) Batt passed away at age 60 in her Spearfish home on Wednesday, October 12, 2017 after an inspiring battle with Breast Cancer.
Visitation will be from 5pm-7pm on Monday, October 16, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish with vigil services starting at 7pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2pm, Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Teresa was born on November 22, 1956 in Sisseton, South Dakota to Lois and Norman Tchida.
She attended grade school and high school in Sisseton where she excelled as a student and participated in numerous school and community activities. She enjoyed spending time with her parents, sisters, and extended family. She loved attending family gatherings and outdoor activities especially camping and fishing.
Teresa was born to be a Registered Nurse and prepared for her career by earning degrees from Presentation College and South Dakota State University in Aberdeen and Brookings, South Dakota. She worked at nursing homes in Pullman, Washington; Moscow, Idaho; and Belle Fourche, South Dakota. She most recently worked at the Spearfish Hospital for 36 years where she eventually performed almost every nursing job in the facility touching countless lives in a very positive way.
Teresa Married John Batt at St. Peters Catholic Church in Sisseton on June 11, 1977. They enjoyed a long and wonderful life which they happily shared with their sons Ryan, Tyler, and Alex and their grandchildren Tate and Taylor.
As an adult Teresa enjoyed golf, fishing, camping, hiking, snow-shoeing, cross country skiing, kayaking, garage sales, ice skating, and any activity she could share with her family and friends.
Teresa is survived by her husband John, her sons; Ryan of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Tyler (Christina) of Casper, Wyoming and Alex of Spearfish, her grandchildren, Taylor of Casper, Wyoming and Tate of Spearfish her parents, Lois and Norman Tchida of Sisseton and her sisters, Janet Fryer (Harold) of Peever, South Dakota and Tammy Gunderson (Jeff) of Seattle, Washington.
Teresa was preceded in Death by her Grandparents Jack and Mildred George of Sisseton and Steve and Viola Tchida of Sisseton and by her infant brother John Paul Tchida who she is likely holding in her arms at this moment.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Teresa's memory to the Northern Hills Relay for Life.
