Steve J. Rosenberger, 76, of Lead, South Dakota passed Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at Spearfish Canyon Health Center.

Steve was born April 17, 1950, in Vermillion, South Dakota to Robert and Ursula Rosenberger with the family who move to Vacaville, California a year later. Steve lived in Hawaii, California and South Dakota, where he started working for Homestake Mining Company in 1979. He met his future wife, Denise shortly after. They enjoyed traveling to Air Shows in Nevada and Wisconsin, car shows in Nevada, South Dakota, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Steve enjoyed riding roller coasters, working on Subaru’s and old cars. He loved listening to 50’ s music and of course his dogs were a big part of his life.

Steve married Denise McConkey of Lead, South Dakota in 1989. They had 2 daughters, Nicole Rosenberger in 1991 and Amanda Rosenberger in 1994. When the mine closed, Steve obtained his GED and went to Western Dakota Tech and obtained his degree in Desiel Mechanics. He owned a garage in Pluma where he worked 2 years before electing to be a stay-at-home dad. Steve had a special relationship with both of his daughters who he never could say no to.

Steve was active in the Lead Beatification Committee and the Lords Cupboard.

Having been blessed to spend time with Steve is his wife, daughters, brothers John and Jim Rosenberger of California and many nephews and nieces. We will miss his smile and laugh.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Robert and Ursula Rosenberger, brother, Les Rosenberger and sister Jean Rosenberger

A special thank you to family friend, Britt Strickland, who allowed Steve to stay at home longer with his family. Also, a special thank you to the staff of Spearfish Canyon Health Center.
