Shirley J. Buckman, age 92, a longtime resident of Sundance, passed away peacefully Monday, February 16th, 2015 surrounded by family.
Shirley was born on February 1st, 1923 to Roy and Cora Stemm in Hinchman, MI. She married William "Ray" Buckman on May 9th, 1942, in West Palm Beach, FL. They accidentally bumped heads in high school and were forever bonded.
She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and Eastern Star.
She loved her family, friends, gardening and traveling-her bag was always packed.
While working at the Tastee Freez, over the years, she influenced many young women, instilling her outstanding work ethic and encouragement to each one.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Ray; daughter, Judy Hays (Keith); son, Don (Teri); grandsons, Michael Swanson (Michelle), Scott Swanson (Susan), Will Buckman; great-grandsons, Matthew and Blake Swanson; brother, Gene Stemm (Peg) and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, William John Buckman; brother, Neal Stemm and grandson, Todd J. Buckman.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, February 20th, 2015, from 4-7pm at Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel in Sundance. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Sundance Senior Citizen Center, or the charity of your choice in memory of Shirley Buckman.
