Sheila Marjorie Edwards

Sheila was born March 10, 1954 to L. Ray and Marjorie Cass of Agar, SD. She passed away from cancer, at home in Spearfish, surrounded by family and friends and hospice care, on March 9, 2009.

Visitation will be from 3:00p.m. until 6:00p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish.

Funeral services will be at 11:00a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2008 at United Methodist Church in Spearfish, with Pastor Dar Berkenpas officiating, burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

Sheila graduated from Agar High School and Dakota Wesleyan University. She taught high school biology in Faulkton before moving to Pierre and being the first Director of OAHE, Inc. adult community support provider.

Sheila married Carl Edwards on December 13, 1984 and the couple made their home in Spearfish and the Black Hills. Daughter Lauren was born in 1991.

Sheila started working in Spearfish with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, before transferring to the apartment program of North Central Health Services. In 2002 Sheila and several co-workers formed Evergreen Management Services, and Sheila served as the CEO. Evergreen manages apartment complexes for Ponderosa Apartments in Spearfish, John Burns Apartments in Belle Fourche, four apartment complexes in Gillette, WY, and Heritage Acres Apartments in Sturgis, and serves as the management company for Prairie Hills Transit and Spearfish/Sturgis Senior Nutrition Sites.

Sheila was an active member of Spearfish United Methodist Church, serving on various committees, the choir, and Sunday School. She was a member of the Spearfish Optimist Club. She enjoyed playing softball and volleyball, four-wheeling, and gardening.

Sheila was preceded in death by her father and mother, her stepmother Garnett, her younger sister Marjean, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. She is survived by her husband Carl, her daughter Lauren, brothers Larry (Gerry) Cass and Tim (Janie) Cass of Pierre, Steve (MaryAnn) Cass of Blacksburg, VA, her sister Sharon (Donnie) Tisher of Amherst, SD, her in-laws Estes and Inga Edwards of Spearfish, three brother-in-laws, and twenty-six nieces and nephews.
