Shawn Dale Dowdy, 33, of Spearfish, SD, died August 15, 2013.

Shawn was born to Rodney and Sharon (Cook) Dowdy in Newcastle, Wyoming, August 20, 1979. He graduated from Moorcroft High School and went to college on a football scholarship, graduating from Black Hills State University with a Bachelor of Science Technology Degree.

He worked for Ainsworth-Benning Construction, Inc. as an estimator/project manager. Shawn enjoyed riding the motorcycle he built with his Dad, camping, fishing, and watching football (especially the Oakland Raiders and Black Hills State Yellow Jackets). He was a wonderful father and really enjoyed spending time with his kids.

He is survived by his children, Lillian, Chase, and Olive, of Spearfish; his parents Rodney and Sharon, of Moorcroft, WY; his sister Heidi (Dowdy) Welch of Gillette, WY; and three nephews Evan, Isaac, and Isaiah. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and sister, Melissa.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Moorcroft Elementary School Gymnasium in Moorcroft with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle, WY.

Gathering of friends and family will be at First United Methodist Church in Newcastle, WY, following the internment.
