Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ryan Christopher Brannan, who died on Saturday August 24th at his cabin in Spearfish Canyon, SD. Ryan was born on June 13th, 1971, in Great Bend Kansas to Donald and Pamela Brannan (Bailly). He was a graduate of Haven High School in 1989 and went on to attend both the University of Kansas and Kansas State University, where he studied Construction Science and Management. Ryan worked in construction for much of his life, and those who knew him knew that he was passionate about his work.

Ryan was also a lover of dogs and spent much of his time with his beloved Annie, Bud, and Callie, whom he considered his kids. He loved hunting and fishing while growing up and continued to enjoy these activities throughout his life, especially with his dogs by his side. In 2018, Ryan moved to Spearfish South Dakota so that he could do more of what he loved in a place that held a lot of special meaning for him. He became an active member of the Spearfish Canyon Volunteer Fire Department, where he loved the work and the people.

Ryan is survived by his father Donald Brannan of Oklahoma City; brothers Mason Brannan of Spearfish SD, Tyler and Kelly Brannan of Olathe KS, and their children Aidan, Austin, and Aubrey. He is also survived by his long-time partner Kristen Cross of Sturgis, SD and her children Kayla, Carson, and Cassidy. Ryan was preceded in death by his mother Pamela, maternal grandparents John and Joan Bailly, and fraternal grandparents George and Leonida Brannan.

Ryan will always be remembered for his love of life, his passion for working with his hands, the outdoors and his deep love for his dogs. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched. Rest in peace, Ryan.
