Longtime Crook County resident, Ruth Evelyn Smith, 83 passed away peacefully on May 31, 2021 at Crook County Memorial Hospital in Sundance, WY. Ruth was born April 12, 1938 to Clarence and Mollie (Mauch) Malliot in Garland, WY. She married Richard "Dick" Smith on December 18, 1954 in Powell, WY.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Marjorie Cook. She is survived by two sisters, Lois (Chuck) Siefert, Worland, WY and Eleanor Echols, Denver, CO, children; Sheila (Keith) Yount, Moorcroft, WY, David (Tammie) Smith, Gillette, WY and Susan (Charles) Cornelius, Gillette, WY, grandchildren; Steve (Monika) Yount, Bill (Erin) Yount both of Gillette, WY, Kelly (Cheyenne) Smith, Wellston, OK, Jordan (Amy) Smith, Lander, WY, Allison (Parker) Smith-Wise, Boulder, CO, Kayla Cornelius, Heather (fiancé Lane Kneivel) Cornelius and Rachel Cornelius all of Gillette, WY, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Private family burial has taken place at the Moorcroft Cemetery, Moorcroft, WY.
