Ruth D. Anderson, 89 died peacefully on Monday, April 2, 2018.

Ruth was born to Fred & May (Larson) Henriksen in Union County, SD on Oct 17, 1928. Ruth attended many country schools in the Beresford area before she graduated in 1946 from Beresford High School.   She then attended College and received her Teaching Degree from Eastern State Normal School (now Dakota State).  She told about Hitch Hiking from Madison to Beresford to get home to see her family at holidays. After graduation she taught school in a one classroom schoolhouse.

On June 19 ^th , 1949, she was married to Milton Anderson near Beresford. They had four children, Linda, Rick, Randy and Dan. They moved to Lead SD in 1955 and she took care of the children until Milton passed away in 1971.  She worked at Anderson Clothing Store, Western Trail Market, Jack N' Jill, and she retired as a clerk serving Pasties at King's Grocery.   She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lead.   She moved to Kimball in 2009 to live close to her sister Elaine.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Carsten of Rapid City; her three sons, Rick (Robyn) of Rapid City, Randy (Joni) of Las Vegas, and Dan (Val) of Mitchell, SD; four sisters, Grace Lubben of Kansas City, KS, Joyce (Leo) Millage of Rapid City, Eva (Rol) Mommer of Minneapolis, MN and Janet Gray of Wichita, KS; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton; her parents, Fred & May Henriksen; four brothers, Bob, Tony, Chuck, and Steve; one sister, Elaine; a grandson and a great-grandson.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:30, Saturday April 7 ^th at the Trinity Methodist Church in Lead.
