Ruby Ilene Meitner, 95, Lead, SD, died Friday, August 16, 2013 at David M. Dorsett Healthcare Center in Spearfish.


She was born February 14, 1918 at Crawford, NE to Charles and Lillie (Pelgren) Harney. She attended school in Crawford, the family then moved and she continued her education in Bowmont, ID for a time. She then married John Meitner on October 14, 1940 at Gering, NE. They later moved to Lead in 1948. John worked for Homestake Mining Company for 32 years, while Ruby stayed home and raised their two children; Harry Meitner and Lillian Mohr.


Ruby loved to crochet and garden. Ruby enjoyed her wonderful friends and great family through the years. She felt very blessed with all her friends and family.


Ruby is survived by two grandsons; Donnie Mohr, Lead, Eddie Mohr, Sioux Falls and six grandchildren; Jessie, Donnie, Jessica, Cassandra, Felicia and Zach. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, son, Harry, daughter, Lillian Mohr, four sisters and three brothers.


Funeral Services for Ruby will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lead, with visitation one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Mountain Lawn Cemetery near Lead.
