It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Roxie Luella (Wetz) Wermers, a beloved mother, grandmother, wife and former nurse who left us on October 17, 2024 at the age of 79, Roxie passed away peacefully at Spearfish Canyon Health Center in Spearfish, SD.

Roxie was born in Sturgis, SD on April 19, 1945 to Orville and Thelma (Casteel) Wetz.  She grew up on a farm in Vale, SD with her 3 brothers, Terry, Tim and Bruce.  She spent her younger years at the Wetz schoolhouse, Sturgis elementary school and later graduated from Spearfish High School in 1963.  After graduation, she pursued her career in nursing.  She graduated from the Pierre School of Practical Nursing in 1964 and went on to spend most of her nursing career working with the elderly.

Roxie dedicated her life to the care and well-being of others, both in her professional career and her family life.  She touched countless lives her kindness, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping those in need.  Roxie enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, reading and doing word searches.  Roxie married her husband, Patrick Wermers on September 3, 1975 in Rapid City, SD.  They lived in Spearfish, SD and had one daughter, Julie.

Roxie is survived by her husband, Pat, Spearfish, SD, her daughter, Julie, and 2 grandsons Riley and Lane, Spearfish, SD.  She is also survived by her brothers Tim of Spearfish, SD and Terry (Linda) of Windsor, CO.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bruce, and Tim's wife Linda.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Home in Spearfish.  Inurnment will follow at 12:30 PM in Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
