Obituary

Rowdy Douglas Roberts, 48, of Deadwood, South Dakota, lost his battle with health issues on March 20, 2025. For those who knew him well he will be remembered as, "One of a kind, the mold being broken after he was born."

Rowdy was born in Huron, South Dakota on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1976, to Doug and Valerie (Decker) Roberts.  Rowdy joined older brother William Albert and was later joined by his younger brother Benjamin Eli. At the time of his passing, he was living in the Black Hills where both brothers currently live and work. Rowdy possessed a giving spirit and had a unique tenderness about him, giving freely and never expecting anything in return. He was often described by those who knew him well as a little boy in a big boy body. Rowdy dearly loved and doted on his daughter Sunshine Rowdy who was his name-sake and the apple of his eye. He thoroughly enjoyed and cherished spending time with Sunshine, riding their motorcycles together in the Black Hills, especially Spearfish Canyon. He had a very special loving relationship with his mother and father and both of his brothers, their wives and his nephews and nieces. He communicated almost daily with his mother and brought her much joy with his humor and quick wit. Rowdy will be remembered as a man with a big heart, great sense of humor, adventurous but honest outlook on life, hard work ethic and as an investor in people's lives. He was a FORD PICKUP MAN who took pride in his vehicles. He enjoyed riding his Harley Buel and various snowmobiles. He could fix almost anything and was a jack of all trades. His crown jewel of occupations was being an underground miner and operating heavy equipment. Rowdy enjoyed fishing with his father and brother Will and throwing discs with his brother Ben. Rowdy's two best friends were his two brothers, Will and Ben.  His personality lit up the room and he was a joy to be around. Rowdy made his friends and family feel loved, cherished and appreciated. He was true and honest with everyone he rubbed shoulders with. Rowdy never forgot his obligation to society, God, family and friends. He is so missed, but we are comforted that he is now with his Savior, who he had made a commitment to, and that there is no more pain, suffering, or addiction, only peace and joy.

Rowdy is survived by his daughter Sunshine Rowdy Erisman (Ash), of Chandler, Arizona; parents, Douglas and Valerie (Decker) Roberts of Forsyth, Montana; grandparents, Albert and Marilyn Decker of Huron, South Dakota; brother William Albert Roberts (Brooke) of Deadwood, South Dakota; brother Benjamin Eli Roberts (Rose) of Spearfish, South Dakota; special son-figure Fallon Hodges of Lead, South Dakota; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.

Cremation has taken place. Please feel free to contact Rowdy's family for details on his celebration of life gathering planned for April 26th in the Black Hills.
