Obituary

Michael "Ross" Feeney passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025 in Sundance, Wyoming, surrounded by family and friends.

He was born in Brisbane, Australia, on October 31, 1936.  In 1953, his family sold their home and belongings and moved to the United States, where they became naturalized U.S. Citizens.

Ross served for 20 years in the United States Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of Major.  He earned his Master of Business Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills.  Ross was a U.S. Customs Agent at the San Diego border. When he retired in May 2002, he moved to Sundance, Wyoming, with his wife, Doreen Meier.

Ross was considered a master gardener and spent a significant amount of his time preparing for the Crook County Fair competitions, where he would sometimes proudly display his blue ribbons at family dinners and to his competitors. He served on a mission in Oklahoma and was an active member in the LDS church. He was a scout master, hunter, and reader.

Ross was proud of his eyebrows. They were an integral part of his heritage, his character, and his overall being.

He is survived by his wife, Doreen Meier-Feeney; three children from a previous marriage to Melissa Anderson, Leanne, Michael, and David; and Doreen's children, Dan, Marie, and Gene. He is profoundly loved by eighteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Ross was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Agnes Feeney, and two of his brothers, Elmer and Greg. He is survived by his wives, Melissa and Doreen, his brother, Lee, and a total of six children, eighteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

His funeral services will be held at the LDS church located at 702 S 7th Street, Sundance, Wyoming on Monday June 16, 2025.  The visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m., followed by the service at 10:00 a.m. The graveside service will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery, at 2:30 p.m., with full military honors.
