Ronald Lee Dick of Sundance, WY passed away on October 21, 2009 at his home.
Ron was born on September 24, 1939 in York, Nebraska, the only child of Peter C. & Della Mae (Chambers) Dick. He graduated from school in Kimball, NE and went on to join the U.S. Navy and was first stationed in Illinois and Oklahoma. While on leave he came home and had a blind date with a beautiful young lady named Karen Goebel. From that time on he was smitten and they would later be married in California on May 21, 1957. From this union three wonderful children were born, Martin Joseph, Carl Ray and Rosalie Kaye.
After his first tour of duty with the Navy, Ron moved back to Kimball, Nebraska and was in business with this father and was also a mechanic. He decided to re-enlist with the Navy in 1962 and continued until his retirement with the Navy in June of 1982. He had achieved the rank of ADRC. During this time, he was also a co-pilot. Ron was very
proud of his service to his country. During Ron's time of military service, the family was stationed in many places, such as New York, California, Tennessee and Washington state.
Once he retired from the Navy, he moved to Sundance, Wyoming. He began a law enforcement career with the City of Sundance in August of 1982 and retired on December 31, 1999. After retirement, Ron and Karen remained in Sundance to be close to their children and other family members.
Ron is best remembered for his smart alec sense of humor, his practical jokes and his love of family and friends. To his children, he was the most amazing man. He was someone to look up to. He was loving, reliable, respectful and dedicated. To his wife, he was a soul mate. They were always together and loved each other dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Karen of Sundance, his children Martin (Ellen Marie) of Azle, TX, Carl (Carolyn) of Gillette and Rosalie of Gillette. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Jack, Kitty, Randy, Heather, Martin, Jr., Billy, Troy, Theresa, Carl, Jr., Brandon & Lucas and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Christopher Scott, aunts and uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 2nd from 4-6 P.M. at Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel in Sundance. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Sundance, WY with a full military burial in Upton, WY.
