Ronnie Sampson, age 74 of Spearfish, South Dakota passed away peacefully on January 19,2018 at his home in Spearfish.
Ron was born in Iowa City, Iowa; his parents were Mary and Clarion Sampson. He grew up and attended school in Nevada, Iowa.
He married Jan Sampson. Ron spent his working years crafting damaged cars back together at various Auto Body Shops in Central Iowa. In 2009, after retiring, Ron and Jan moved from Grimes, Iowa to Spearfish, South Dakota.
Ron and Jan are members of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. They enjoyed riding motorcycles with friends and family, along with fishing and boating, however his true passion was woodworking and crafting treasures for loved ones.
Ron is survived by his wife Jan, daughters Tahnee, Sara, Tammy and son Todd. As well as his brothers Doug and Steve, sisters, Susan and Sandy and their families. Also survived by family members Dave, Peggy, Ryan, Ruthie and Robbie and their families. He is also survived by three grandsons and two granddaughters, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, mother, Mary Sampson who preceded his death recently on January 18,2018, father Clarion and sister Betty.
We will celebrate his life with two memorial services. We ask our Black Hills area family and friends to join us at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spearfish on Tuesday, January 23th at 10:30 am, with a luncheon to follow the service.
A second memorial service is tentatively set for February 24th in Nevada, Iowa with additional details available later.
Interment will take place in the Rose Garden at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish later in the spring.
