Rolley O. Sexton, 78, Spearfish, SD died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at his home.
Rolley was born September 2, 1935 in a one bedroom house south of Hay Springs, NE to George and Bessie (Buskie) Sexton. He was one of 13 siblings. He was raised in that area, where he attended school until the 8th grade. He worked on the farm helping his dad. In 1953, he entered the US Marine Corps for two years.
After the service, he returned to Nebraska, where he married Berniece Rae Guest in 1956. Together they had three sons and a daughter. Shortly after they were married, they moved to Lead, where he worked at the Homestake Gold Mine until 1964. The family moved west to Eugene, OR, where he worked at Georgia-Pacific Lumber Co. for 12 years. In 1975, he returned to Lead and went back to work for Homestake Mining Co. Rolley and Berniece split after returning to South Dakota. On December 15, 1987, he married Donna (Simmons) Bennett. Rolley retired in 1993, after 27 years of service to Homestake Mining Co. After retirement, he moved to Torrington, WY, where he lived out his lifelong dream of ranching and farming. They moved to Spearfish in 2008, to be closer to grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Donna, Spearfish; children, Clyde (Charlotte) Sexton, Springfield, OR, Sherri (Rick) Stephens, Reedsport, OR, Roy (Linda) Sexton, Rapid City, SD and Rick Sexton, Lead; step-children, Lester (Robin) Bennett, Belle Fourche, Anita (Larry) Jahner, Spearfish, Karen (Dan) Kelly, Olathe, KS and Larry (Shelly) Bennett, Central City; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, George Sexton, Jr., Covington, OK; sisters, Letha Kinser, Klamath Falls, OR, Myrtie Thoms, Bakersfield, CA, Edna Frankhauser, Columbus, OH, Marion Sheedeed, Gordon, NE and Nina Ratzloff, Clinton, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sister.
Memorial Services for Rolley will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish.
