Obituary

Roland "Rollie" Rosedahl, 71, Spearfish, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 27th, 2014. He is now free from this earthly realm and is in the presence of his Lord and Savior.

Roland was born on February 26, 1943 in Watertown, SD to the late Ivan and Gertrude (Korsburg) Rosedahl. They moved to Rapid City in 1947. He graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1961 and married Vi Haberstroh on February 14, 1964. Together they had two daughters, Danna and Heather.

Rollie had a passion for food, hunting it, fishing it, growing it and cooking it, humming while he ate it, but mostly sharing it. Whether it be at a turkey feed, a fireman's picnic, a backyard barbecue or just cooking out in Rollie's Garage, many lives were touched by this gentle man who made friends wherever he went. He had a way about him that made everyone comfortable. He had a nickname and bear hug for everyone and never forgot a birthday. A father figure to many, young and old, the love that Rollie had will live on through the many lives he touched. He had a Father's heart for the men from The Summit and all men that came to the garage as well.

One of his proudest achievements was being chosen as the President of the South Dakota Firefighters Association from 1988-1990. But even more so, was the day he became a grandfather. Lily Rose brought him a whole new light and life, and he cherished every moment they had together.

Rollie was preceded in death by his mother and father, and sister Julaine. He is survived by his wife, Vi, daughter Danna Rosedahl, (Wayne Saunders), daughter Heather Von St.James, (Cameron Von St. James), and granddaughter Lily Rose, sister, Janet Keeney; brother, Merlyn Rosedahl and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of his life service will be held Saturday, March 8th, at 2:00 p.m. at The Summit, 535 North 7th Street, Spearfish, SD 57783. Pastor Dennis Allender will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Northern Hills or The Summit to help build the counseling center and children's play area.

Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels and Crematory Service of Spearfish.
