Beloved husband, father, "Papa", and friend, Roger Stevens went to be with Jesus on June 5, 2026.
Roger was born in Akron, Ohio, on November 23, 1945, and he graduated from high school in Marietta, Ohio. Following high school, he entered the air force, serving 26 years at Ellsworth Air Force Base, Rapid City, SD, with the exception of one year Sicily. After his retirement from the air force, Roger drove truck for Tri Mac, as well as for Spearfish Hospital where he drove MRI and CT Scanner trucks. He taught truck driving at Western Dakota Technical Institute for 18 years, during which time he also did CDL testing right up until February of 2026.
Roger's relationship with the Lord Jesus was evident in his everyday life. His faith and Christian love was displayed in his kindness, patience, and generosity. His grandchildren felt that love and affectionately called him Papa.
Those who will be missing his presence in their lives are Clara, his wife of 34 years, his children Scott Stevens (Krista) and Brian Stevens (Danielle), Cassie Gomez (Lenny), Craig Miller (Bobbi); grandchildren Drew, Devon, Beau, Taylor, Kayce, Will, Aleisia, Adam, MacKenzie, and Maddie. Roger also had seven great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. In addition, he leaves behind his brother, Jerry (Irene), his sister, Peggy (Gary), Sister-in-Law, Mary (Kenny) Stanek, Brother-in-law, Jim (Joyce) Havlik, Sister-in-law, Connie (Jay) Fatland. Many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00PM, Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow the service at 2:30PM at Black Hills National Cemetery.
