Roger D. Showman, 70, passed away fighting cancer on April 22, 2025, at home surrounded by loved ones.  He was born August 26, 1954, in Oskaloosa, IA, the son of Ronald E. Showman and Helen L. (Morrison) Showman.

Roger graduated from Oskaloosa High School, Class of 1972.  Following graduation, he attended William Penn College and Iowa State University.  After graduation from college, he married the love of his life, Sharon Treat-Rice.  They celebrated 48 years of marriage in December.

Roger enjoyed woodworking, building furniture, working outside as a forester with Game Fish & Parks and the National Forest Service, and firefighting with the national fire teams, which led him to many places.  In 1988, the family moved back to the Black Hills where he worked in the Spearfish, SD and Sundance, WY offices for the National Forest Service until his retirement after 44 years of service.

He was predeceased by his parents Ronald E. Showman and Helen L. (Morrison) Showman. Surviving in addition to his wife, Sharon K. Showman, are his son, Ronald B. Showman, daughter-in-law Lindsey, of Spearfish; daughter, Tiffany M. Showman of Belle Fourche; granddaughter Justice B. Showman of Rapid City and his great grandkids, Luna and Ezekiel; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no funeral services at this time as Roger requested to have a celebration of life that will be held later.

Arrangements were under the care of Isburg Crematory in Spearfish.
