ROGER JAY RATHBUN, Gillette, WY
1948-2014
Roger Jay Rathbun, 66, passed away November 30, 2014 of natural causes. He was born August 26, 1948, to Dale and Lenore (Fowlkes) Rathbun. He lived on and attended school at the family ranch west of Hulett until the fourth grade. The family then moved to Hulett where he graduated from Hulett High School in 1966. He married Patricia Mahoney later that year. They had two children, a son Ron and a daughter Stephannie.
Roger owned businesses in the contract oil pumping and construction fields in Douglas and later worked for Kennedy Oil in Gillette.
He was very active in the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Gillette, and he helped start a Moose Lodge in Buffalo. He won awards and held state offices in the Moose organization. Roger was also an avid NASCAR fan and loved attending races with his son, Ron and girlfriend, Myrna, when time allowed.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leonard.
He is survived by brothers, Lyle and Dow, sisters, Dela Prazma and Barb Goodvin, his children, Ron and Stephannie, grandchildren; Aubrey, Keaton, Kahle and Barrett, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at the Moose Lodge in Gillette at 5 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2014.
