Roberta Young, 80, Spearfish, SD died Friday, May 31, 2013 at the David M. Dorsett Healthcare Center.

Roberta Jane Carl was born in Timber Lake, SD on September 7, 1932 to Theodore and Leota (Riede) Carls. She attended Timber Lake High School graduating in 1950. In 1960, she married Jack Young. They moved to Isabel and began ranching. In 1968, they purchased a motel and moved to Spearfish. They also operated a veterinary supply company until 2002. Roberta was an avid gardener. She spent many hours working in her beautiful yard. She especially enjoyed her family.

Roberta is survived by her son Doug Young, Dupree, SD, brother; Dennis Carls, NY, sisters; Donnell Shipley, Sturgis and Carla Carls, Spearfish, grandsons; Jesse Cooper and Trey Young, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack, daughter, Renee Cooper, daughter-in-law, Vicki Young and a sister, Marlene Torevell.

Funeral Services for Roberta will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
