Robert John Rozman, 83, Spearfish, SD died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Robert was born in Duluth, MN on December 23, 1931 to Katherine Rozman. He graduated from Ely Memorial High School in Ely, MN in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 – 1954 and is a Veteran of the Korean War. He received the Korean Service medal, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He was a member and past president of the VFW in Ely, MN.
On August 4, 1956, he married Evelyn Higgins in Jackson, WI. They were married for 58 years. They made their home in Ely, MN, where they lived until 1977, when they moved to Gillette, WY. In 1998, they retired and moved to Spearfish, SD. They lived for a brief time in Buffalo before moving back to Spearfish. Together they raised three sons and one daughter.
Robert worked for Reserve Mining Co. in Ely, MN and Carter Mining at the Rawhide and Caballo Mines in Gillette, WY.
Survivors include sons, Mark Rozman, Gillette, WY, Robert (Julie) Rozman, Rozet, WY, Craig (Kathy) Rozman, Thornton, CO; daughter Ruth (Phillip) Wunder, Gillette, WY; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services for Robert will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, February 20, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Spearfish. Inurnment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. A memorial has been established to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels and Crematory Service of Spearfish.
