Obituary

Robert "Bob" Rogers Sr., 85 of Deadwood, SD went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Lead-Deadwood Regional Hospital with his family by his side.

Bob was born in Isabel , SD, on August 1, 1928 to Nina Rogers. As a child he was raised by his grandparents, Jim and Pearl Rogers. He was drafted in the US Army in 1951 and he served two years. Bob was active in the National Guard from 1958-1961. Bob started working at Homestake Mining Company in 1957 and retired to a life of leisure in 1992. Bob was united in marriage to Hulda Mehlhaff in 1958 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Deadwood and celebrated 55 years in July of 2013.

Bob enjoyed camping, hunting, boating with family and friends, and having a barbeque with family. Being in his garage at 8 Dudley in Deadwood was a pride and joy of his, spending a little quiet time with his tools and Johnny Cash on the radio. Always a special treat for family was Dad's Tom and Jerry's at Christmas. Bob was a member of the V.F.W., St. Ambrose Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Hulda Rogers of Deadwood, sons, Tim (Alicia) Heckel of Gillette, WY and Matt Rogers of Rapid City, daughters; Jan (Gary) Hargens of Rapid City, Renee (Dan) Bridenstine of Lead and Karen Rogers of Deadwood, grandchildren, Josh (Shanna) Bridenstine of Beresford, SD and Megan (Josh) Deskins of Casper, WY, five great-grandchildren, sister, Anna Marie Swanson and brothers; Donald, Ronald, Edward and Larry Boeding.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Nina, grandparents, Jim and Pearl Rogers, three brothers, two sisters, sons, Rob Rogers and Gerald Heckel and grandson, Brock Heckel.
Visitation will be from 6-7pm, Tuesday, November, 5, 2013 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Deadwood, followed by a Vigil Service at 7pm.
Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 10:30am at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Deadwood. A luncheon immediately following the Mass will be held at the Deadwood V.F.W. Burial with full military honors will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery, near Sturgis, SD.
