Robert "Bob" Meisel, 87 of Spearfish, SD passed away on February 5, 2016 at Fort Meade VA Hospice Unit.

Visitation will be from 3-6 PM on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11am on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Inurnment will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to benefit the Ft. Meade VA Hospice.

Bob was born on October 14, 1928 in Sioux County, ND to Louis and Pauline (Dolder) Meisel. He was raised and educated in the Selfridge, ND area. After graduation he entered the US Army serving proudly from 1951-1952 in the Korea War stationed near Panama and later in Greenland.


Bob married Virginia Trussell on April 21, 1990 and they made their home outside of Spearfish ever since. Bob worked many years for the Spearfish School District as a custodian and later in the kitchen serving lunch.

Bob is survived by his wife, Virginia; step daughter, Pam (Ward) Williamson; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, James (Carolyn) Meisel, Grand Forks, ND and Martin Meisel, Underwood, ND; sisters, Mary Hanson, Spearfish, Sister Emily Meisel, Watertown, SD and Pauline West, Deadwood, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George Meisel and Carl Meisel; and step-son, Lyle Hansen.
